About Me

I'M BUSY LIZZY

Hello! My name is Lizzy and I like to stay very, very busy. I live in Bozeman, MT and spend my free time skiing, hiking, hanging out with my dog, and drawing, drawing, drawing! I have been “doodling” around my whole life but only recently started my pet portrait side-hustle. By trade, I’m an engineer by day and an artist by night!

The best thing about drawing people’s pets is getting to share in the incredibly special relationship that people have with their furry friends. I enjoy the challenge of finding a way to express the love and complex personality of each and every animal with my clean an detailed line style. I tend towards black and white but love to experiment occasionally with how pops of color can bring my pieces to life.

Between commissions, I have been working on my “Montana Animals” series and am now offering prints and originals of all pieces in the Shop Art section of my website. Take a look and let me know what you think! I would love to hear from YOU!

Inspiration

My inspiration comes from the juxtaposition that is my brain. Although I often see things in black & white, my thoughts are very busy and full of shapes, patterns, and crazy squiggly lines.

Techniques

I start with a pencil sketch of my subject, mark the important highlights and shadows, add any specific character elements, open my pen, black out for a few hours... and vualá!!

What's Next?

First, I'm on a mission to draw enough amazing animals for a yearly calendar. Then I'd like to move into the coloring book world. What else should I dabbledoodle in?
